LocalAppointments ("we", "us", "our") operates the website localappointments.app and provides website and booking software to pet grooming and appointment-based businesses in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for information collected through this website.

2. What data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Contact information: name, email address, phone number when you enquire or sign up.
- Business information: business name, address, services and opening hours provided by business owners using our platform.
- End-customer booking data: name, phone number, email address, and appointment details entered into booking chatbots powered by our platform.
- Usage data: pages visited, time on site, browser type, IP address — collected automatically via cookies and server logs.
- Communications: emails or messages you send us.
3. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data under the following lawful bases (UK GDPR Article 6):
- Contract performance — to provide our service to business owners who subscribe.
- Legitimate interests — to improve our platform, prevent fraud, and send relevant service communications.
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and marketing emails (you may withdraw consent at any time).
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain data by law.

5. Third parties we share data with
We do not sell your data. We may share it with:
- Neon (database hosting) — stores business and booking data. Based in the EU/US under standard contractual clauses.
- Vercel (hosting) — hosts our platform. EU data residency options available.
- Resend (email) — sends transactional booking emails.
- Google (Calendar, Sheets) — used by business owners to sync appointments, subject to Google's own privacy policy.
- Meta / WhatsApp (optional add-on) — only if the business owner has enabled WhatsApp notifications.
- Stripe / PayPal (optional) — for deposit processing; they act as independent data controllers.
6. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described above, or as required by law. Business account data is retained for the duration of the subscription plus 12 months. Booking records are retained for 7 years for accounting purposes. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
7. International transfers
Some of our sub-processors are based outside the UK/EEA. Where data is transferred, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) in accordance with UK GDPR Chapter V.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification of inaccurate data.
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") where there is no lawful basis to retain it.
- Restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
- Data portability in a machine-readable format.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time (does not affect prior processing).
